In response to this, we have developed an educational package to help employers and colleagues feel confident in supporting a member of their team on a return to the workplace.

As an example, we created a dedicated workshop to Independent Financial Advisers who deal with bereaved clients on a regular basis. This had particular emphasis on active listening and communication styles to the bereaved clients. Some of the advisors had struggled with adapting their communication style and were worried about saying the wrong thing. The outcome of the workshop was that all those present felt more confident and had a broader understanding of bereavement, together with some empathy of what their clients were going through.

The bereavement workshop was delivered and received by our team extremely well, despite it being a difficult topic. Tracy delivered the session in a very open yet sensitive way and allowed plenty of time for reflection and questions. The session was also quite thought provoking in how we can look to implement a bereavement policy within the Society to help support our employees further in difficult times.

The Bereavement Educational workshops are designed to help employers and colleagues feel more confident in supporting a bereaved member of their team in the workplace. We feel that it is far better to approach bereavement support in a proactive manor. Developing a supportive environment can lead to the bereaved feeling more able to return to the workplace
The Bereavement Education Workshops are beneficial to all employees, regardless of their role. The initial workshops are often attended by human resources staff or managers and team leaders, as they tend to be the first point of contact for a bereaved employee.
We recommend keeping the workshops to a small group of 5 to 8 people. Small groups enable individuals the space to get as much out of the session as possible.
Our workshops are delivered by experienced bereavement specialists who are also fully trained counsellors. They will consult with you to gain an understanding of your business to tailor a bespoke workshop that is relevant to your needs.
The initial workshop’s aim is:
Workshops for 5-8 members of staff are charged at £295 per 90 minute session. Bespoke workshops designed for specific groups such as customer facing staff are also charged at £295. We offer rapid response support in the event of an unexpected bereavement, and this is charged at £60 per hour.
We will come to your company to deliver the workshop at a date and time to suit you. We need you to provide an appropriately sized room and a screen for a Power Point presentation.
Following on from the initial Bereavement Education Workshop businesses often identify other groups of staff that would befit from Bereavement Education. We can then work with you to design a bespoke workshop tailored to that specific group.
We can work with you on the development of a Workplace Bereavement Policy, as well as offering ongoing consultation with any bereavement support issues that may arise in the future.
