I have many fond memories of Ann. From our time as 17 year-olds working in Market Research in Holborn, London (where on a lunchtime trip to Gamages one of my shoes broke in half to Ann’s great amusement), to her marriage to Jack and those happy years, to how devastated she was when she stayed with us not long after his death, to her later visits to us in more recent times. During those visits, I recall trips to RHS Wisley Gardens and Hever Castle where I know she had previously been with Jack. She would return home with plants that I had propagated or dug up from my garden and would give me annual updates on their performance (including the non-flowering agapanthus!). I will miss her humour, honesty, gardening chat and a friendship that lasted more than 50 years. I was sorry not to be there in person for the funeral, but was thankful to be able to watch via the webcast. Today, I have cut some agapanthus from my garden in Ann’s memory.

I will remember our immediate connection Ann and we shared easy conversation, humour and a love of cats. We put the world to rights on many occasions and I am sorry that the friendship hit some bumps. But I am pleased that we were able to keep in touch and I hope with all my heart that you are at peace now. Deepest sympathies to her brother and all that knew her xxx

I remember Ann's determination, sense of humour, and love of cats. She had a warmth about her that I never found in any other young lady. I enjoyed our 10 years together, through good times and not so good. I regret our separation but still kept in touch. Hopefully at peace now.
